Testimonials

Far far away behind the word mountains far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia there live the blind texts.

We worked with Nate adding an in-law suite to our home. Nate was so responsive to our vision and needs - which was not necessarily a straightforward task considering the multiple decision-makers for this project (me, my husband, and my mother). At the same time he also gave wonderful guidance and recommendations based on his expertise so that we would end up with a highly functional space and stay within our budget. My husband served the role of general contractor. He felt comfortable reaching out to Nate during the construction process with any questions and always got a prompt and helpful response. The end result is a stunning space that is modern, bright and open while flowing seamlessly with the style and character of our 50’s home. It has added tremendous long-term value and works in our everyday lives. Nate was wonderful to work with throughout the whole process – he is patient, truly listens to his clients, and shares his vast experience.

When we wanted to finish our oddly shaped basement in our first home, my husband and I were lost. Nate came up with a vision immediately that included our dream of a bar, play area, gym, sauna and full bathroom. It all worked perfectly and 6 years later we now have 3 kids who love the space too. We still love the design, style and special touches (ex: built-in bookcase, which is also the storage door to our side yard). Nate is a creative, hardworking, patient and honest architect and I can't recommend him enough (for small or large jobs).

I have known Nate Drinkwine for many years and watched him grow from an aspiring to an accomplished architect. When I bought my first condo in Capital Hill in 2007, Nate’s keen eye and sense of design prompted me to ask the builder to change the location of the bedroom doorway. This little change made a huge difference in the design and flow of the small 600 sqft condo and allowed all of my furniture to fit – without this change fitting my furniture would have been a challenge. Fast-forward 12 years and one house later…when my boyfriend and I made the decision to redesign the front entrance/hallway to our home, we didn’t look any further than drinkwineDesign. Nate, and the amazing group of professionals with whom he works, helped us to open up our dark and boring entrance into a bright and welcoming space. He designed a hidden closet disguised by a bookshelf to utilize dead space to store our cleaning supplies (we love showing this to guests!). And made the suggestion that we lay our tiled floor on a diagonal to add a subtle touch of elegance to the hallway. Nate spent the time to listen to our ideas and visions for the space and he utilized his talent, skills and years of experience to design a space that we love; we couldn’t be happier with the way it all came together!

Nate was very easy to work with and had great ideas for our design. He took the time to walk us through multiple design options and included details in the design that fit our specific needs. He worked well with our contractors to eliminate unforeseen construction costs. We would highly recommend Nate and would use his services again for future projects.

Nate was super nice and helpful for the project I had. He had a lot of good advice, knew about relevant city code, and was always willing to make time to explain everything to me.
